Ordering
Whether you are ordering a design shown on the website or a new design of your own the process is very simple...
If you are ordering an existing design:
- Send me an email at bill@nicholsinlay.com. Include in your email the following information:
- Identify which design you want. (There are codes under each truss rod cover to make this easier.)
- The brand of guitar for which the item is being made. (For Taylor guitars, also include the year the guitar was made.)
- The species of wood that you want. (See Woods for ideas).
- The finish you want: satin or gloss. (Gloss finish will generally incur an upcharge.)
- I will promptly respond to you with a confirmation of price, what the approximate delivery time will be and your payment options.
To order a new custom design:
- Send me an email at bill@nicholsinlay.com. Include in your email the following information:
- A description of the design that you want.
- If you have a picture please attach it to the email in a jpeg format if possible.
- The brand of guitar that it will be made for. (For Taylor guitars, also include the year the guitar was made.)
- The species of wood you want. You may request a specific wood, or provide a description of your guitar (woods used for back/sides, headstock, or other appropriate areas) and I will be happy to make recommendations.
- I will promptly respond to you, most likely with a few questions about your design.
- I will than do a layout of your design and email that to you for your consideration. I will describe which inlay materials may work best for your design. Here are several examples of layouts (left), next to pictures of the finished pieces (right):
- You may then respond with questions or suggest changes.
- Once we have settled on the design and materials I will quote you a price, give you an approximate delivery date and offer payment options.
There is no premium charged to you for a new design. Once the new piece has been produced it may be added to the website as an available design unless otherwise agreed.
Most of the designs shown on the website were the result of requests for custom designs.
